Sendero Verde

Sendero Verde B is the first phase of a transformative, nearly full-block development that will be developed over two phases. Once both phases are complete, Sendero Verde will include nearly 700 units of permanently affordable housing in East Harlem.

Sendero Verde B will create 360 units of affordable housing for households ranging from very low to moderate income, as well as the formerly homeless. Offering expansive community serving spaces, Sendero Verde B will also provide approximately 12,000 square feet for a Union Settlement Association community center for seniors and youth, 50,000 SF for a school facility, a publicly accessible elevated courtyard with a variety of active and passive recreation spaces, and over 11,500 SF of Greenthumb Community Gardens to be conveyed to the City of New York upon completion.

Certified to Passive House standards, the residential environment at Sendero Verde will offer healthy indoor air quality, superior thermal comfort, and high levels of energy efficiency, consuming only a small fraction of the energy used by conventional buildings to heat, cool and ventilate. Once built, the combined phases of Sendero Verde will be the largest multifamily residential Passive House in the United States.
